Jean Smith Obituary

Jean A. (Buchanan) Smith

Clyde, TX

Jean Ann (Buchanan) Smith, age 64, of Clyde, TX, passed from this life on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene, TX. She was born September 30, 1953, in Ranger, TX to Hilary Buchanan and Jo Ann (Harris) Wagley.

Jean was a strong-willed, crafty woman. She worked for US Brass in Abilene for over 10 years. She was an amazing grandmother and her grandchildren called her "Crazy Granny". Jean enjoyed going to the movies with her family, taking trips to the beach, going out to eat and reading a good book. She had a huge sweet tooth for cookies, honey-buns, and skittles. Jean loved her family dearly and cherished them all. She left behind great memories and will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons: Shane Jobe and wife Chastity of Abilene and Matthew Deel and wife Alicia of Clyde; two daughters: Rachele Jobe, and Melissa Burger and husband Brandon, both of Fort Worth, TX; four brothers: Conrad Buchanan and wife Shirley, Craig Buchanan and significant other Beth Sells, and Blayne Buchanan and wife Melynda, all of Clyde, and Richard Wagley and wife Marilyn of Abilene; one step-brother: Billy Wagley of Abilene; one step-sister: Mary Barras of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Ryan Jobe, Bryson and Caitlyn Pettyjohn, Eithan, Matthew, Lilly and Shane Burger, and Clay Deel; four nieces: Cindy Coronado and husband Eddie, Kandace Raymond and husband David, and Stephani and Courtney Wagley; and four nephews: Gregg Buchanan and wife Denise, Michael Buchanan and wife Sherry, Bo Buchanan and wife Sarah and Joe Buchanan. Jean was also survived by numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hilary and Jo Ann; step-father who held a very special place in her heart: Hurshel Wagley, one brother: Brent Buchanan and one infant daughter: Melissa Michele Jobe.

It was Jean's wish that her friends and family not mourn her passing but to remember her life and share laughs through memories.

To the family of Jean Ann,

I am saddened by the news of the loss of Jean Ann. She was one of my students when I first started teaching and coaching at Putnam. I loved her and will always remember her sweet smile.
