I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. It's been many years since I've seen Mike. We used to bowl league together at Pickwick. He was a heck of a bowler. I wonder if he kept it up. My condolences!

I was deeply saddened in learning of Mike's passing. As one of the students in his medical school class, I remember fondly his insights into human nature and the sarcastic appraisals he made of my beloved baseball team which still hasn't ever been in a World Series. I know both the emergency medicine field and the Reno community lost a brilliant clinician and compassionate man.

I have a lot of fond memories hiking with Mike and Christine. We actually finished the Tahoe Rim Trail a couple of years ago, where we had cold beer waiting for us at the end.

Years ago I followed Mike around in the emergency department as a young dumb medical student. He was gruff and kind and really just a great person to work with. We kept in touch throughout medical school and he’s a big reason why I went into emergency medicine. Thank you Mike, for everything.

I just read about Dr. Morkin and I am so sad. I was a nurse at Washoe Medical Center from 1991 to 2006. I did not work in the ER but I knew him as a patient and the daughter of a patient (my mother). He was my favorite ER doctor. I remember him as kind, attentive, thorough with a special sense of humor. The world of emergency care was better because of this special man. To his family and friends please accept my note of sympathy.

I first met Dr Morkin in 2005 when I first started working in the ED. I liked him right away for his humorous wit. He was always caring and great at putting staff and patients at ease in the most stressful situations. Rest easy, brother.

Dr. Morkin saved the lives of many, including my grandfathers. He held a special place in my heart from that day on.
He blew my mind his knowledge & intelligence. By far one of the most amazing ER physicians I had the pleasure of knowing.
He would brighten some of our hardest days with the funniest memes & videos of cats or cartoons. Always getting everyone around to chuckle, lifting some weight off of our shoulders.
Working at the bedside with him since becoming a nurse have been some of my favorite memories.
I’ll miss you so much.
Rest easy.

Wonderful man, kept me on my toes! My favorite memory after hearing him huffing and puffing around Blue pod, he got on a call to his wife, inquiring about her day. How sweetly he spoke to her, asking about her walk and their cats. In that moment I knew him as a gentle giant and he held my respect. Rest In Peace Dr. Morkin, you’re loved and missed. Hugs and warm thoughts to his wife and family ❤

Dr Morkin, you are a force. The day I met you as a timid traveler you made a joke about me, joking of course, and I wanted to spend the rest of my 9 months earning your respect and trust as a teammate. You are always going to be one of my favorite doctors to ever work with. The amount of cat videos you shared with me/us will never be forgotten! You are a humble human and wonderful doctor. We will miss you horribly. You and your family will be in my thoughts. I feel honored to have so many great & funny memories with you.

One of the best ER doctors and people I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Mike always had the same sarcastic thought process.
However his patients were given the best care

We are so sorry for your loss. Michael will be so missed. We remember Michael stitching up our son's forehead at Renown ER. He was so good at distracting him before giving him a shot. He was certainly a gentle giant.

I have fond memories of hiking in the Sierras with Michael and his wife Christine on some hikes that Christine led. I'm originally from Chicago and my eldest daughter graduated from Northwestern Medical School as well. I'm sorry to learn of his passing but I know that Christine is strong and will be surrounded by her loving cat family.

I grew up with Mike in Burbank and we were the best of friends. From Jr. High to early college days we would hang out and do some of the most ridiculous stunts. We shared much time together from the H.S. Water Polo team to flipping burgers at McDonalds. He was always genuine and always giving.
