David Brooks Obituary
Mr. David L. Brooks Sr., 74, of Roanoke, passed away on October 27, 2022. David was born in Bluefield, W.Va., to the late Fred George Brooks and Dorothey Harper-Brooks.
He was enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After returning home he was employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he retired after working over 35 years. He was a devoted father and stepfather and member of the Salem Church of God in Salem, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Brooks; father, Fred George Brooks; mother, Dorthey Harper Brooks-Baker; and brothers, George Brooks, E.G. Brooks and Mark Brooks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, April Brooks, Amber Wallace, David Brooks Jr. (Shantell) and Jackie Bailey; stepchildren, Timmy Haga (Tracy) April Trent (Ali) and Tina Childress (Keith), brothers, James-Bobby Brooks (Brenda) and Tony Brooks (Lisa); sisters, Connie Pannell (Melvin) and Joyce Watson; stepsisters, Victoria of Hampton, Ga., Frances, Lynne, Donnella, Shirley and Ebbie Baker of Hickory, N.C.; stepbrother, Ralph Baker Jr. of Pa.; devoted friends, Archie Hodge and Flora Harton, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, 12 Noon at Salem Church of God, Salem, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Highland Memorial Gardens, Dublin, Va.

I’ve known David Lee for a very long time. The Brooks Family were our neighbors during our adolescence years in Bluefield, WV. David Lee was always kind, respectful, and just such a nice person.
