Glenn Atkins Obituary
Mr. Atkins was born in Waiahua, HI, on March 24, 1968, son of Mr. Ralph Atkins and the late Martina Castro Atkins. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by 2 nieces, Jessica Atkins and Courtney Westmoreland. Mr. Atkins was a graduate of Pepperell High School. Most recently he worked for Freshway Foods as a truck driver. He was an officer with the Rome City Police Department for 25 years and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Officers. Mr. Atkins also worked as a security guard for Floyd Medical Center (now Atrium Health-Floyd). He loved to cook, golf, ride motorcycles and hunt but family was everything to him. Mr. Atkins' tight-nit family brought him more joy than anything this world could offer. His kids and granddaughter were the light of his life. Mr. Atkins was a parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his 2 children, Savannah Atkins (Quenterrius Kennemore), and Carson Atkins (Olivia Grodeman); granddaughter, Ava Reanne Kennemore; his father, Ralph Atkins; 5 siblings, Troy Atkins (Leah), Terry Atkins, Denise Locklear, Donna Atkins, and Sarah Beam (David); the mother of his children, Michelle Atkins; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Biblical Wake will be held at 4pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Memorial Gardens. Following the committal service a reception will take place at 239 Hine Rd. SE, Rome, GA, 30165, from 6-8pm.
The family will receive friends from 4pm until 7pm on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Honorary pallbearers are to assemble by 3:30pm on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Lee Holder, Jeff Rickman, Rusty Blair, Frank Russo-Alesi, Timmy Connelly, and current and former officers and staff of the Rome City Police Department.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of funeral arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear Glenn's passing He was a fine young man always friendly in a good athlete back in his young days. Always enjoy watching him and my son play football together. I am sure he gave me some breaks when he was a police officer due to my heavy foot if. His father Ralph and his siblings are in my prayers.

I've known you for over twenty years. I'm so very happy that you let me play match maker all those years ago. You were a great friend and I've enjoyed knowing you.
