HAWLEY 'LEE' PINKLEY, 81 ROCKFORD - Hawley "Lee" Pinkley, 81, left for heaven Friday, May 4, 2012. He was born March 1, 1931, in Rockford, to Viola and Hawley Pinkley. He graduated from East High School in 1949. He was proud to have served in the Navy on Essex Carrier CV-9 Fighter Squadron 53 during the Korean Conflict. Lee worked at John S. Barnes in production control for 40 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working part time at Hickory Knolls Golf Range. He loved sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears, music and golfing with his sons-in-law. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lee is survived by wife of 57 years, Betty; daughters, Marcie (Roger) Heppermann, Cindy Pinkley (Gordon Bradley) and Susan (John) Patch; grandchildren, Nikki, Sara, Rebecca, Emily, Hannah, J.P. and Allison; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Jeffrey, Landon and Brennan; and brother-in-law, Gary Confer. Predeceased by beautiful grandson, Jeff; sister, Jaci Confer; and half-sister, Pat Milecki. The family would like to give a special thanks to their friends and neighbors, especially Scott and Kim Olson, the Nguyen family, Paul and Peg Blair, and the Pulfreys. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Third Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Murray Hanson officiating. Visitation from 4 p.m. to service time. There will be a reception immediately after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
