JOSEPHINE 'BABE' L. DZIK, 78 ROCKFORD - Josephine "Babe" L. Dzik, 78, of Rockford passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, in her home, surrounded by her family. Born Aug. 13, 1933, in Rockford, the daughter of the late Leonard and Antoinette (Cascio) Ippolito. Jo graduated from West High School in Rockford in 1951. She worked for the City-County Planning Commission of Rockford and H.P.A for many years. After retirement, she worked at Alpine Hills Golf Course. Jo was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, volunteered for the St. Joseph's altars, and was a Pom Pom advisor at Jefferson High School in 1973 and 1974. Jo was a caring, honest, strong woman who was completely focused on her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She loved dogs, big-band music, enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and baking her famous Italian cookies. Survivors include children, Diane (Gary) Wilhelm, David (Deborah) Dzik, Michael (Nancy) Dzik and Steven (Darla) Dzik; grandchildren, Sunee Madden, Keely Martin, Derek Dzik, Stevie Dzik and Damon Dzik; great-grandchildren, Taylor Martin, Kally Kong, Shye Martin and Isabelle Martin; sister, Margie Triolo; sister-in-law, Margaret Ippolito; numerous nieces and nephews; her dog, Angel; and special friends, Frank and Sharon Costello. Predeceased also by brother, Joseph Ippolito; great- granddaughter, Olyvia Martin; and niece, Maria Schell. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Chantel Girod and Comfort Keepers for the wonderful care they gave their mom. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday to time of Mass in the church.
