ROBERT E. WILLIAMS, 91 BETTENDORF, Iowa - Mr. Robert E. Williams died Monday, February 25, 2013, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to the Bettendorf Public Library. Bob was born August 15, 1921, in Rockford, Ill., the son of Robert C. and Ethel Cram Williams. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he received his Degree in Architecture. He served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II, where he had been a B24 pilot. He married Gloria Hutchins December 15, 1945, in Rockford. He had been the East Moline Planning and Zoning Administrator for many years. He later worked for the Rock Island Arsenal as an Architect, retiring in 1990. He had been an avid golfer, who achieved a hole-in-one at the Arsenal Golf Course. He enjoyed snow skiing and playing bridge. He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church, Davenport, IA. Mr. Williams had volunteered for many years at Trinity Hospital and for the Bettendorf Library. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Gloria Williams, Bettendorf; daughters, Sherry (Rein) Turn, Valley Park, MO, Andrea (Kevin) Harlow, Bettendorf, IA; Christine Williams, Silver Spring, MD, and Kim (John) Dergo Whitesboro, TX; grandchildren, Amanda (Ben), Kyle, Annie (Gunnar), Andrew, Ashley (Seth), and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Edie, Lilith, Anna, Griffin, and Dylan; brother, Donald (Jean) Williams, Rockford; sister-in-law, Phyllis Williams, Walnut Creek, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stuart Williams. Graveside services for Robert E. Williams, 91, of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 5, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors.
