Thomas E. Ayers Sr.

PAWLET - Thomas Edward Ayers Sr. passed away at Rutland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.

Tom was born on March 8, 1942, in Granville, N.Y., the son of Walter and Emma (Crouch) Ayers.

Tom was a self-employed general contractor in the area for many years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting. He was a great father and grandfather.

Tom was predeceased by his father, Walter Ayers Sr.; two brothers, William Ayers and Larry Ayers; and a sister, Dorothy Morrisy. Survivors are his mother, Emma of West Granville; two sons, Thomas Ayers Jr. and his companion Kim of Middle Granville and Benjamin Ayers of Granville; one grandson, Hunter Ayers and his mother Paula of Hampton, N.Y. Tom is also survived by two brothers, Walter Ayers and his wife Betty of Malone, N.Y., and Charles Ayers and his wife Norma of Middle Granville; and one sister, Susan Quiggle and her husband Tom of Granville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, September 4, 2010, from 6-9 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Modern Woodmen of America, PO Box 648, Wells, VT 05774-0648, in Tom's memory.

In keeping with Tom's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral service.
