Sacramento, California - Carl E. Hooper passed away in the hospital on June 16, 2021 at the age of 69.
Carl attended college and worked in law enforcement after being honorably discharged from the service. He then worked for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company/NASA. He worked on several of the space shuttles' external fuel tanks. He retired from Lockheed Martin after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. During his successful career, Carl had the pleasure of meeting various astronauts, including, The first African American woman astronaut, Mae Jemison, who traveled into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
He leaves behind his twin daughters Chevonda Autar, Carla Quintella, son-in-law, Jason Quintella, four grandchildren, Elysa and Jason Quintella Jr., Chiara and Aliyah Nicole Autar; two great grandchildren, Jasmin Marshall and Ijzon Boyd; one sister, Jacqueline Wheaton; cousin; nephew, Christopher Jones; niece, Courtney Jones of Morris; one God sister, Lori Lynn Morris; and a host of cousins, and relatives and friends.
