Dennis DALEIDEN Obituary

DALEIDEN, Dennis (Denny) J.
Jan. 27, 1940 - April 5, 2011
Passed to his eternal reward with the Lord. After a valiant fight with cancer, he passed peacefully at his home in Lake Shastina, that he and his wife, Christine, built, surrounded with family and a wonderful community. Survived by his wife, Christine; sons, Patrick, Timothy, Robert, and Andrew; daughters-in-law, Christine and Gina; grandchildren, David, Jillian, Kaya, Cheyenne, and Mckenzie; and relatives in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

A multi-faceted person whose interests included leadership, community service, sports, and travel. His leadership skills were utilized to help build communities in Milwaukee, Sacramento, Bodega Bay, and Lake Shastina. As a California Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, Land Surveyor and General Building Contractor, Denny founded and managed two engineering and development companies in the Sacramento and Bodega Bay areas. His efforts with these two companies provided opportunities to many people and created new communities throughout California. He served on several community planning boards, engineering associations, political campaigns, youth sports activities, and high school boosters-always willing to offer a hand. In between his many leadership and community service endeavors, Denny always found a way to play a round of golf; take the family skiing, boating, or camping; and engage in the monthly bridge group. He has always been an avid Green Bay Packer fan, supporter of Jesuit, Encina, and Tomales High School sports, and cheerleader for his sons and grandchildren's sports and academic efforts. Road trips by sports car or volkswagon bus were his favorite way to explore the many U.S. National Parks with his wife and family. The family experienced a lifetime of adventures and laughter from these trips. Loved by his family, Denny inspired his sons to humbly serve and graciously love. Always an instructor, no opportunity was lost to educate his sons to be men of God in service to others. He emphasized the need to accept the many gifts each individual contributes and not draw attention to your own.

His philosophy was simple: contribute to the betterment of each community in which he lived. His education as a young man emphasized service to community and civic responsibility, and Denny tried to live by this each day of his life. Through his illness, Denny was gratified by all the support and expression of love that he received on a daily basis. He stated humbly that maybe he has left footprints in the sand of life. Denny will be missed, but remembered for his caring, loving, Irish humor, and passion for life. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 11th at 2PM at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 1051 N. Davis Avenue, Weed, CA. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held following the Memorial Service at the Putter's Bar & Grill, Lake Shastina Golf Resort.

I extend my sincere condolences to the Daleiden family for your loss. I will remember Denny as the father who encouraged practical jokes and levity at the dinner table and always showed his deep caring for his family, wife and children, their families and his grandchildren.
