DUNN, Doris Alfa (Ellison)
Born in Litchville, North Dakota on August 24, 1920 to Christ and Cora Ellison. Passed away May 13, 2012 in Rocklin, California. A registered nurse, Doris served proudly with the US Army in WWII, both stateside and in England. Her last post was at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco where she met her future husband Fredric R. Dunn, also a WWII veteran. They married and settled in Fred's hometown of Rialto, California. Doris spent many happy years as a surgical nurse at Kaiser Medical Center, Fontana. In 2000 they moved to Rocklin, California to be closer to their only daughter, Laura Dunn-Moore and her husband Gregory. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Fredric, mother Cora Smedshammer-Ellison, father Christ Ellison, brother Carlton Ellison, and sister Wilma Ellison-Olson. She is survived by her daughter Laura Dunn-Moore (Gregory), grandchildren Steve Moore and Kristine Moore-Collier, and great-grandchildren Daniel Moore, Gregory Collier, and Jennifer Collier. After retiring, Doris's favorite hobby was people. She loved to visit with and hear about all of her friends and family. A special thank you to her many beloved friends/family at Casa De Santa Fe. Doris and Fred were interred together at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on June 14, 2012 with military honors.
