Joyce J. Tom-Yee

1933 - 2018

Joyce J. Tom-Yee, a Sacramento native, passed away very peacefully on February 17, 2018 from sudden complications 8 days following emergency surgery. She was 84 years old. Born on August 14, 1933, she graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College. Joyce was a retired teaching assistant with the North Sacramento School District. While her daughters were growing up, Joyce was very active with their schools' PTA and functions, sporting events and was Color Guard Director for the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. Joyce was an avid gardener and a very active member of the Woodlake Garden Club for over 45 years. In addition, she was a lover of animals, enjoyed a great meal with family and friends and her occasional 3 large olive martini. A very private person, Joyce was caring and down to earth with an enormous heart. Preceding in death was her husband Don N. Yee (2012) and her brother Kenneth Tom (1988). Joyce is survived by daughters Doreen Yee, Denise Yee-McClarty (Douglas), grandson Alex McClarty, brother Ronald Tom (Maeley), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many loving longtime friends. Service will be private at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, per Joyce's request, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children Sacramento, 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817-2215 or Sisters Animal Sanctuary c/o Kathy Monahan, 11480 Fogg Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95757 or other charity of your choice.
