Elk Grove, California - Larry Owen Findley died unexpectedly and peacefully at home on October 26, 2022, at the age of 78. Born in a small farming community in eastern Oregon, the family moved a few times and lived in Junction City, Oregon during Larry's teen years, where he graduated from high school, excelling in sports and had many friends. He graduated from University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in math.
Larry loved everything outdoors from golfing, camping with the family on the Oregon Coast to hunting adventures in Eastern Oregon with his dad and extended family of uncles, cousins and his brother. He especially enjoyed the evening campfire reliving the big one that got away. He was always ready for the next adventure.
He was recruited by IBM and worked there for several years. He had a business of his own until he returned to the technical field, working for GE as vice president of a project in the technical field in western U.S.
Larry retired in 2000 and for several years he lived at the beach in the Baja, Mexico, during winters, spending summers on his brother's ranch in eastern Oregon where he helped build a barn and shop. After their marriage in 2011, Larry and Joanne lived in Seattle for 2 years before looking for a sunnier place to live. They finally settled in a Del Webb community in Elk Grove, California. Larry and Joanne were active in the community, golfing, dance classes, playing bridge and making many good friends. Larry served on the Board of Directors for the Glenbrooke community for 5 years and was President of the Board for 3 of those years. He was very serious about his service to the community until his death. His many Glenbrooke friends miss him.
