Lee De Bord Obituary

De Bord, Lee Lee Edwin De Bord, 82, Rocklin, died the afternoon of Monday, June 29, 2015 at his Rocklin home of natural causes. Lee was born Jan. 8, 1933, in Rupert, Idaho. After living various places he eventually settled in Rocklin, California where he became a long time resident there of more than 43 years. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his only son John Michael De Bord and his wife Patricia, of Rocklin. Lee is also survived by his only living sibling, Claudia Van Epps, 93, of Tieton, Washington. He also leaves behind his only grandchild, Jenna Isabella Rose De Bord, 10. Lee joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He is a veteran of the Korean War where he earned the Purple Heart medal in battle. After serving in the Navy, he attended and graduated from the California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State) with a bachelor's degree. Lee worked for the California Department of Corrections from September 1959 up until his retirement. Lee started as a Correctional Officer, a guard, and worked his way up through the ranks eventually retiring as the Acting Chief of the State of California Inmate Appeals Branch. Lee will be remembered for his dedication, devotion and love for his work and his family. Lee was married to his wife Sharon for 52 years, but passed away one week shy of their 53rd anniversary. Lee was especially fond of his only granddaughter Jenna who he lovingly referred to as "Beans". Jenna was truly the love of his life as he was quite close to her. Lee had a passion for animals caring for many pets during his lifetime. Up until the day that he passed, Lee was often seen with and followed by his loving Shih Tzu canine companion Cookie. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, July 8, 2015, 11:00 AM, at the Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel, 6920 Destiny Drive, Rocklin, CA, followed by a private burial.
