Peter Clark Obituary

CLARK, PETER QUENTIN
Born December 28, 1956 in Kansas City, MO, passed on to explore a new world on June 24, 2003, and to wait lovingly for his family. Beloved son of John Q. Clark and Jean M. Clark. Beloved brother of Elizabeth J. Clark, grandson of Dorothy F. Martin and of James A. Clark (both deceased). Nephew and cousin of many Clarks in Chicago. Pete was an alumnus of Laurel Ruff School and attended Orange Grove school, where staff and friends were a second family. He was a Special Olympics athlete with many medals in track, skiing, swimming, basketball and floor hockey. He was a truly gifted ceramic artist, whose special interest was in unique glazed designs. He never repeated a design and collectors waited with excitement to see what the newest creations would be. Pete enjoyed travel with his family to the UK, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii and across the U.S. He loved weekends at the family cabin and fishing. In some ways Pete faced limitations, but in all the really important ways, he lived life fully and happily with a gentleness and a nobility of character that were endearing and inspirational. A family graveside service will be held. Pete's friends and friends of John, Jean and Beth will be invited to a memorial reception at the family home in recognition and celebration of his life. Donations may be made to the Peter Clark Memorial Fund, Orange Grove Adult School, 4640 Orange Grove Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95841.
