Robert Korves Obituary

Robert Korves
November 10, 1950 - July 8, 2022
Sacramento, California - We experienced a deep lost in the passing of Robert (Bob) James Korves. A hidden brain tumor left us with only a month to...hope, question, fear, succumb to that which would take our dear Bob from us.
Though he had a strong physical stature, he will be remembered for his heartfelt outreach, consideration and care that embraced his family and those who would come to know him.
Bob was born in the city of Pipestone, Minnesota to Aubrey Vernon and Alvina Mary Korves. He was the third sibling in the family following his elder twin sisters Ilene (Seveland) and Irene (Koob); his younger siblings Nancy (Hill) and Thomas Korves would soon follow. Theirs was a family of musicians, singers, bands and choirs. The family moved to Sacramento in 1959. Sadly, Bob's passing leaves Nancy as the only remaining member of the original Korves family. Many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins have fond memories of Bob.
A relationship began over 40 years ago as a simple friendship for Bob. It was only in the past 10 years did that friendship deepen as a supportive and encouragement basis for two lives. The desire to spend their Golden Years together brought them into an endearing marriage on March 2019, Husband Bob + Wife Alice Siu; two houses blended into one shared home. Day trips and travels included sights of them walking hand-in-hand or with wrapped arms strolling - forever sweet in actuality and in remembrances.
Bob loved the intricacies and craft of machines and vehicle parts. He worked as a Senior Parts Representative at the County of Sacramento Equipment Division and subsequently at the Riverview International Truck, Inc., West Sacramento. The home garage was filled with metal and wood working lathes, saws, grinders, drills, sanders, etc. and a myriad of tools. Most importantly, his skills and enthusiasm encouraged other like-minded machinist friends to collaborate together with him.
His creative endeavors included working as a young assistant to the Executive Chef at the Del Paso Country Club and exploring the intrigue of air flight and sail planes. He was a pilot of Cessna aircrafts and of gliders. His interests and leadership led him to become President of the Board of Directors of the Pacific Soaring Council.
A private gathering will take place to share the special times, friendship, mentorship, and companionship Bob blessed each of us with. Due to COVID-19+Variant concerns, we unfortunately could not have an open invitation time together, our sincere apologies.
We all find solace that Bob's final wishes will be fulfilled; he will be scattered in the heavens above the Sierra Nevada Mountains where he often found peace in the quiet beauty of soaring.

I carry good memories of our 1960´s garage bands, and your lead guitar playing. Those were fun times.

The Class of 1968 from Bishop Armstrong High School, which he graduated from, offer condolences to the family of Bob. May he rest in peace. I'm sure there will be a shop in St. Peters' garage that Bob can tinker in.

Alice and Nancy: May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. I'm sorry for your loss. Bob will be greatly missed. I will miss his quite, kindhearted nature, and his delicious food. :-)
