Rosalind 'Ro' was born May 15, 1934 in Visalia, California. A 3rd-generation Californian of pioneer & Azorean descent, Ro's family moved to Sacramento in 1942. Ro was a gifted musician, playing violin professionally (with sister Lois) in the Sacramento Convention Ensemble at age 13 - the youngest musician in the union. Ro had a lovely voice & sang commercials on the radio in high school. In 1952, Ro married her high school sweetheart & fellow musician, Chad Calland. Ro worked as a legal secretary to put Chad through med school till their 1st child, Alicia, was born. They moved to Marin Co. where Chad began his cardiology practice after 2 more children, Steven & Wendy. In 1968, Chad suffered kidney failure. Ro nursed him 4 years, thru 5 transplants, and even donated a kidney to him, but Chad died in 1972.

Ro recovered, pursuing her love of puppetry, painting, singing, & studying her interests at College of Marin. In 1975, Ro met the 2nd love of her life, Rev. Frank Hamilton, who also had 3 children. They married in 1978, moving to Santa Rosa in 1980 when Frank became Pastor at Church of the Roses. Ro was very active in church, sang in the choir, & painted, her art appearing in many shows.

In 2007, Ro & Frank moved to University Retirement Center in Davis, where she died Oct. 13, 2013, of heart failure. Ro was loved by all, her greatest gift being her warmth, tenderness, & wonderful smile. She's survived by husband Frank Hamilton, sister-in-law Lyn Hamilton, children Alicia Waldheim, Steve Calland, & Wendy Masarweh, stepdaughters Cynthia McDougle, Janet Hamilton, & Sue Hamilton, & grandchildren Corey Icet, Keith Waldheim, Alyssa McDougle, & Chad, Nadia, & Paula Masarweh. Ro will be sorely missed & never forgotten.

Memorial Service is Sun., Nov. 10 at Davis Community Church, 2pm, 412 C St, Davis, CA.
