Sharon Neese Obituary

NEESE, Sharon
She was born June 22, 1944, and died in Gold River, CA May 3, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. Sharon amazed and astonished everyone who knew her with her resolve to live a full life and not let her disease control her life. Sharon leaves Richard, her husband of 37 years; children Monica & Brad, Erik, and Ryan & Brandelyn; her precious grandchildren Madison, Paizley, Conner and Michael (Sharon's most cherished name was Gramma); father Robert Reeves and Ilda Corron; sisters Lorell & Morley, Pauline & Bud, and Jo & Mike; a wonderful extended family and the best friends in the world! Sharon grew up in Clarksburg, CA, (a 4th generation Californian) nurtured by a community ofloving people and lived her entire life in the Sacramento area. She was a Camp Fire volunteer earning the Gulick Award, and a Cub Scout leader. Sharon was a stay at home day care Mom, and began her early childhood education career at Cordova Pre-School. Since 1989 she worked for SETA Head Start with responsibility for 32 early learning centers throughout Sacramento County, including services to children and families. The SETA board recently honored Sharon by naming it's newest center the Sharon Neese Early Learning Center. Sharon was a member of the Beanstalk board, Children's Coalition, First 5 Sacramento Advisory Board, Sacramento County School Readiness Committee, and the Christ Unity Church. She received the Child Coalition Child Care Community Award, Educator of the Year from the Department of Education, CSUS, but her most meaningful award was given to her by her Facility Staff of 10 years. Sharon loved the Sierra Nevada Mts & the family cabin at Echo Lake. A celebration of her life will be at Christ Unity Church, 9249 Folsom Blvd., Friday, May 7, 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Sacramento Children's Home. Arrangements handled by Miller Funeral Home.

I worked with Sharon at Head Start, and recently learned of her passing. I remember one year the staff exchanged names for Secret Pals and Sharon was mine!

She was such a great secret pal, each gift that she chose for me was always exactly something that she knew I needed or would need for a particular day, leaving me amazed.I still have cards that she gave me. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Take joy in your memories.

When I first started working here at SETA, Sharon was one of the first people that I met from the headstart side and she made me feel from day one like I was part of the family. She will be missed deeply but she will always be with us. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Sincerely, Nanc'

I am very honored to have known Mrs. Neese . I have known her since I was a little boy . One of the funniest stories I remember is when I broke my leg and she carried me home . While she was carrying me I was screaming and blaming her for breaking my leg .

My prayers go out to her family.
