Marian Illig Obituary
She was born April 9, 1919, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Edward and Della Weborg Tordoff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Illig, after a marriage of 64 years.
She belonged to the Civic League of Cattaraugus, Ladies Altar and Rosary Society, Bridge Club and was an active and devout member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
She was a devoted and extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Her life revolved around her deep faith and her unending love for her six children, James E. (Kathleen) Illig (son) of Ellicottville, Patricia A. Illig (devoted daughter-in-law) of Cattaraugus, Stephen J. (Pamela) Illig (son) of Hamburg, Christina F. (Harry) Rudge (daughter) of Clemmons, N.C. and Peter K. (Michele) Illig (son) of Cattaraugus; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John C. Illig; and infant son, Christopher Illig; brother, Edward; and sister, June.
There will be private calling hours for family members only. All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 14, 2021) at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Washington Street, Cattaraugus. Reverend Innocent Diala (pastor), Reverend Joseph Porpiglia and Deacon Wally Samick will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus, at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to Home Care and Hospice of Western New York or Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus.
The family thanks and acknowledges the caregiving team who were so loving and devoted to Marian's care at her home over the past few years: Sandy Cotter, Cynthia French, Merrie Kirkland, Morgan Stevens, Debbie Oakes, Heather Jankowski, Tammy Thomazeski, Laura Royce, Kimberly Beauman, Karola Riehle and the Hospice team.
