Hillery Johnson Obituary
SALISBURY - Mr. Hillery Gene Johnson III, of Salisbury went to his resting place Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Novant Presbyterian Health in Charlotte.
Born Aug. 18, 1971, in Rowan County, he was the son of Gene Johnson Jr. and Diane Kincaid Johnson. A 1989 graduate of South Rowan High School, he was a member of Second Avenue Church of God.
Gene was employed by AKZO Nobel as a lead chemical operator. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and South Carolina Gamecocks fan. He always put others needs ahead of his.
Gene was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hillery Johnson Sr.; and grandparents Doug and Frances Kincaid.
In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory is his son, Chase Johnson, mother LuAnn Carroll, Chase's girlfriend, Karah Abbott, and Chase's sister, Victoria Jones. Also surviving him are his brother, Aaron Johnson (Lisa); and paternal grandmother Alma Johnson. Also surviving are his godson and nephew, Maddox Avery Johnson; nephews Colten and Caiden; niece Layla; and special cousin Donna Brooks. Also surviving him are his aunts, Brenda Pruitt, Carla Clawson and Karen Tucker; uncle Tim Johnson (Jenny); cousin Jacob; and many more cousins and special friends.
Arrangements: Visitation is Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Still cannot believe he is gone...one thing for sure-he is resting now-no more suffering and no more pain. Lil Gene was a wonderful man that dedicated his life to raising a wonderful man-and Im very proud that he did just that!! To Gene's parents and especially to Aaron and Chase, I am truly sorry for the loss of a great man. Gene was like a father to me especially growing up with Chase. I always looked up to Gene and it killed me to know that he left us. I know it is hard but he will always be watching out for us; and we will see him again soon. My prayers go out to the entire family.
