Stanely Foster Baker

Stanley Foster Baker, 70, of Salisbury, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at the Liberty Lane Hospice, VA Medical Center, Salisbury following an eight month battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 4, 1948 in Rowan County to the late William P. “Bill” Baker and Valdois Foster Baker. He was educated in Rowan County Schools and graduated in 1966 from East Rowan High School. He served in the United States Army as a Ranger and helicopter gunner during the Vietnam War. He was later employed by Southern Railway. After relocating to Little River, S.C. in the 1980s, he worked at Seacoast Marine as a mechanic and later established his own successful business in marine repairs and continued until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife of 17 years, Linda Rufty Baker who died April 21, 2018. He is survived by two sons, Brian Scott Baker of Salisbury and Michael Todd Baker of Little River, S.C.; brother, William B. “Bill” Baker (Sybil) of Salisbury; granddaughter, Sydney Baker of Little River, S.C.; sister-in-law, Patty Rufty Lefevers; mother-in-law, Margie Hall of Salisbury; a niece; and two great- nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
