Jay Chatterley Obituary

Jay LeRoy Chatterley 1916 ~ 2004  Jay LeRoy Chatterley died September 5, 2004 at the age of 88, in a rest home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He was born May 6, 1916 in Cedar City, Utah. As a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served family and Church with honor and dignity. Included in the many priesthood service assignments, Jay served a two-year mission to South Africa, Bishop in Kennewick, Washington and Temple officiator in the Los Angles Temple.  Jay married Dorothy White, a native of Beaver, Utah on March 21, 1942. Together they raised seven children. (Tanja, Jimmie LeRoy, Michael White, Nancy Jane, Timothy Brent, JoLea and Cedric Nephi) To date there are 26 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.  Jay's career as a Civil Engineer included work on water resource projects in Washington and New York States. Later in his career the Jay Chatterley Family moved to California to work with the State Water Resource Districts. He retired while working for Ventura County Flood Control. After retirement in 1988, Jay and Dorothy lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as they served their family and church.  Funeral services will be held at the Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, California on Sept. 11, 2004, where he will join his eternal companion, Dorothy who died in February 1998 and their daughter Nancy who died in 1989. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
