Patricia Johnson Obituary

1967 ~ 2018
Our beloved daughter and sister, Patricia Johnson, died at home on June 24, 2018 after a life well and bravely lived. She leaves an enormous vacuum in our lives. Trisha was born in Price, Utah in 1967; she grew up in Salt Lake City and East Carbon. She graduated from the University of Utah and later studied at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Trisha's life was blessed with many joys. During her college years she enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Caribbean Islands, and Europe with friends. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was chosen as Whiterose by Sigma Nu, her boyfriend's fraternity. She lived in Norway for short periods of time. During these years she studied ballet, skied, worked with special needs children and worked as a life guard.
Later, Trish proved to be extraordinarily creative and became accomplished at block printing, card making, cross stitch, and mosaics. She once cross-stitched an intricate tapestry of beaded and fringed purses. She donated the framed piece to an HIV fund-raiser auction where it brought over $500. Trish had a generous heart as well as great compassion. She spent two years training her dog Zoe to qualify her to be a therapy dog. Every month during that time they would visit the children and families at Ronald McDonald House. Her love of beauty drew her to art galleries and museums.
On Fridays Trish could be found in front of her easel as she and her instructor would chat throughout a three-hour oil painting lesson. She'd began her instruction a year and a half ago. Trish also enjoyed gardening. This year Greg built two raised beds for her and she planted succulents and herbs. Trish was proud of her gardens and loved tending them in the sun listening to 80s music with Greg. And she was notorious for working her favorite movie lines into the conversation.
Everyone who knew Trish knows what Courage it took to live her life joyfully as she did. We are saddened by the incredibly painful chasm she leaves behind. But she is at peace and with God.
She leaves behind her mom Victoria Palacios, sister Jessica Johnson-Moore, brother-in-law Mike Moore, special friend James Gregory, beloved Aunt Chris Palacios, cherished Aunts Josie Turner, Frannie Palacios, Marianne Palacios, and Carla Jones and uncle Greg Palacios as well as many other family and friends Trish is preceded in death by her father Robert Leroy Johnson, grandparents and godparents Joe and Mary Palacios, grandparents Robert Lawrence and Virginia Johnson, uncles Richard F. Johnson, William C. Turner and Charles H. Nelson, and cousins Anna Turner Sant and Derek Turner.
Trisha's temporary resting place is Dallas. In September her ashes will be carried to Salt Lake City where friends and family will celebrate Trisha's life. There, in her favorite place during her favorite season, she will finally rest in the mountains she loved so much.
