Trygve Hoel Obituary

Trygve Hoel Trig  Trygve Hoel passed away peacefully March 9, 2004 in Apache Junction, AZ with his children at his side. He was born in Trondheim, Norway on January 22, 1927 to Nils Hoel and Esther Nielsen. He immigrated to New Jersey in 1948 on the Queen Elizabeth. He became a U.S. Citizen in 1954 in a ceremony with President Eisenhower in the Rose Garden at the White House. Trig served in the Norwegian Army during World War II and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Trig's Air Conditioning in Ogden for 30 years. Trig married Karin S. Landstrom on July 12, 1952. They lived most of their married life in Ogden prior to retiring to Gold Canyon, Arizona. They celebrated 51 years of marriage together prior to her passing on July 18, 2003. He was known for his entertaining stories, endless jokes, strong work ethic, a good martini, and easy going nature. He is survived by daughter Helga (Alan) Swanson of Kaysville; son Erik (Penny) Hoel and their children Heather, Robyn, Aaron, and Erika of Ogden; sister Randi Hvitsand of Trondheim, and many friends and relatives in Norway and the U.S. Preceded in death by his wife, son Jeffrey Peter Hoel, his parents, and brother Asbjorn Hoel.  The family would like to thank  Odyssey Hospice and Apache Junction Health Center for their loving care the past two years.  God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you And whispered, "Come to me" With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard-working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.   Per his request, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life as we scatter his ashes at his favorite fishing spot at Flaming Gorge.
