Michael Eugene Little, 51, of San Antonio, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007, in Atascosa County. Michael was born February 10, 1955, to Eugene and Jody Dalton Little. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Melanie; sons, Andrew and Taylor Little; and daughter, Kathryn Little, all of San Antonio. He is also survived by his brother, Doug Little and wife Sara of Houston; brother, Patrick Little and wife Christy of Houston; sister, Julia Engelmann and husband, Craig of Pflugerville; parents-in-law, Dr. Joe and Janice Hymer; brothers-in-law, Spero Constantine of Dallas and John Constantine of Austin; uncle, Jack Little and wife, Nancy and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Little graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and received his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1978, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. A prominent oilman in San Antonio and Houston, he began his career in the petroleum industry as a drilling foreman in Midland and a drilling engineer in New Orleans for Chevron USA. Prior to his death, Little was President and CEO of the Wedge Group Inc. in Houston, and was Chairman of the Board of Pioneer Drilling in San Antonio. From 1998 to 2003, he was President and CEO of Pioneer Drilling. Little served as President & CEO and Director of Dawson Production Services from 1982 to 1998, when it was acquired by Key Energy Services, Inc. Under his lead, Dawson grew from 4 work over rigs and 30 employees to over 500 rigs and 3,000 employees. He was Vice President of Camden Engineering, Inc. from 1980-1982. Little loved his family and friends, ranching, boating and hunting, as well as football. A proud Texan, his sharp wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed. Pallbearers are Joe Eustace, Ward Greenwood, Dennard Gilpin, Mark Campbell, Dr. Jerry Layne, Pat Hurley, John Saunders, Andy Mills, Jim Tidwell, Dan Allen Hughes, Cliff Hoskins, Wade Richardson, Steve Harper, Dan Kinsel, Karl Kinsel and Martyn Glen. Memorials may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN or the charity of your choice. SERVICES: He will lie in state on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, from 3:00 - 7:30 pm, at the Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, in San Antonio. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. A celebration of Michael Little's life will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at 1:00 pm, at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, 825 E. Basse, in San Antonio.
