Alva Stein Schuchart of Rio Medina, Texas passed away November 14, 2016 in San Antonio at the age of 62. The youngest of the four daughters of Allen and Janie Stein, Alva was born December 3, 1953 in Hondo. In 1972 she graduated from Medina Valley High School and earned a BS in Medical Technology from Southwest Texas State University in 1976. She worked in healthcare before joining her husband in their business, Texas Corrugators. Alva, also known as "Grandma," loved being a grandmother to her 7 grandchildren. On July 16, 1976 she married the love of her life, Dale Schuchart in St. Louis Catholic Church. Alva was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother, James Allen Stein and her father-in-law, Vernon R. Schuchart. Survivors include her husband of over 40 years, Dale Schuchart; children and their spouses, Leland and Jamie Schuchart, Erin and Matt Pedroza and Lindon and Kristen Schuchart; grandchildren, Layne, Logan and Lawson Schuchart, Easton, Mattie and Cannon Pedroza and baby boy Schuchart "on the way"; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Patrick Zinsmeyer, Faye and B.J. Jungman and Pamela and Gary Koenig; mother-in-law, Doris Schuchart; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris Schuchart and Vivian Torres; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Friday, November 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Mass of the Resurrection at 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The Holy Rosary will be recited Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
