BEDFORD
Celebration of Life service for former San Antonio resident SFC (ret) Daniel J. Bedford, 54, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Castle Ridge Mortuary Chapel.
Daniel J. Bedford departed this life entering into eternal rest in the early morning of May 31, 2014.
Burial will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas with full military honors.
Daniel was born on January 1, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas to D.J. and Alma (Frazier) Bedford. He was a standout athlete all throughout school, and after graduating from Sam Houston High School, he played semi professional football for the San Antonio Gunslingers. in the early 1980's he met the love of his life, Pamela Ann Spencer and they were united in matronly on July 11, 1987 in San Antonio, Texas.
Sergeant First Class Daniel Bedford entered active duty on April 1 1987. After 22 years 10 months, he retired on April 30, 2009. He served in several position throughout his military career to include Section Chief, Platoon Sergeant, and Chief of Firing Battery. While on active duty he, he attended various military Leadership Courses and received many awards and decoration. He received his Associates Degree in Business Administration while on active duty. After retiring form the military, he was employed by the Department of Defense Military Personnel Division as a Causality Training Officer, where he was selected as employee of the year in 2011.
Daniel accepted Christ at an early age and one of his proudest moments was when he was ordained as a Deacon at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in August 2012. He had many passion in his life that he loved but his greatest passions were helping others in any was he could and being obedient to God's word and directions. He will be remembered for how passionately he sang Zion's Song for the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Pamela, of the home; his parents, DJ and Alma Bedford, of San Antonio, Texas, sons, Michael Williams, of Lawton, Oklahoma and Burshaud Williams, of San Antonio, Texas, daughter, Vivian Torres, of Lawton, Oklahoma; brothers, David Bedford, Darrel Bedford, and Dameon Bedford and his wife, Dominique, all of San Antonio, Texas, sisters, Dwindolyn Bedford, Dorothy Bedford, both of San Antonio, Texas, and Doris Smith of Dallas, Texas; brother in law, Dr. L. S. Spencer, Jr., of Houston, Texas; sister in laws, Carol Langond, and her husband, A. D., and Cynthia Bedford, all of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Devante, Raevon, Jada, Blake, Christiophe, Michael, Amiyah, Kaiden, Knaliyah, Knyeela and Jaliyah; 6 God children, Brandson Seed and his wife, Shereta, of Atlanta, Georgia, Chikoya Carroll, of San Antonio, Texas, Rod Harris of Lawton, Oklahoma, April Thompson, of San Antonio, Texas, Tamani Reynolds, of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Shawn Cochran; a special niece, Devin Shantel Bedford, of San Antonio, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and an entire community of friends.
Mr. Bedford was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Bedford, paternal grandparents and an infant nephew.
