Josefina Fronzaglio Obituary

Josefina "Josie" P. Fronzaglio
February 5, 1936 - July 12, 2023
Josefina (Josie) P. Fronzaglio, our beloved wife, mother, and friend of all went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2023. She was born to Jose Luis Perez Avila y Maria del Refugio Escobedo Casas on February 5, 1936, in San Pedro, Coahuila Mexico. Josie moved to Laredo, TX at the age of 12 to live with her aunt, the late Brigida Wright. In 1955 she graduated from the Ursuline Academy. She met Joseph (Joe) A. Fronzaglio during his tour of duty at Laredo Air Force Base (AFB) in 1963. They married on November 2, 1965, and began a series of military moves beginning with Ramstein AFB and Germany that same year.

Their late daughter Laura Marie Fronzaglio was born on August 3, 1966, at Landstuhl Army Post, Germany. A subsequent transfer to Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX provided the birthplace of son Joseph G. Fronzaglio on June 8, 1968. The family returned to Germany in 1971 for Joe's assignment at Sembach AFB. Joe's final Air Force assignment was to Ellington AFB, TX, just south of Houston, in July 1974 before his retirement and the family's subsequent move to Laredo. The couple moved one last time to San Antonio in January 1989, where they enjoyed family, friends, and fellow church members at the Lackland AFB Chapel and Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church.

Josie was known for her selfless, loving and serving nature, be it at home or at play with her family, at work with colleagues during her 13-year tenure with Dillard's Department store (both in Laredo and San Antonio), or with her friends and neighbors in various settings. Her willingness to help others was boundless, and served as a role model for others of all generations and walks of life to follow. While she will be missed, she will not be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Laura and several siblings. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. of San Antonio; son, Joseph G. Fronzaglio and wife Tanya of Dallas; sister Sarah Perez and niece Mercedes Perez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico; sisters in-law Antoinette McLaughlin, Lucille Lutz, and Rose Ann Harper of Donora, PA; and brother in-law Richard Fronzaglio of Donora, PA. Her smile, concern, willingness to help others, and beauty will be truly missed.

Services will be held at Castle Ridge Mortuary on July 26, 2023, beginning with Visitation and Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. the following day at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church located at 7990 Military Drive West in San Antonio. Procession and burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Family Violence Protection Services (http://www.fvps.org) where Josie always supported the great works of her late daughter Laura.
