Keith Anthony Jimenez of San Antonio, born March 19, 1954, passed on Saturday, October 20, after a three-year battle with Renal Cancer. Keith was a second generation land surveyor and surveyed much of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico before he retired in 2016. Keith was born in Floresville and graduated from Seguin High School in 1972. He was proud that he was the first member of his family to graduate from college and that he paid for his education by playing basketball for Sul Ross University - a school chosen because of its proximity to Big Bend National Park.

Keith's surveying career began at 14 "working the stick" out in the field with his father, and he later payed that forward by dragging his two sons out there at the tender age of 12. His first official surveying job was a great seven years at The Fisher Company in Houston, where he got his "real education" and his first of five RPLS certifications, ultimately serving as Crew Chief for the firm. From there, he moved to Geogram Corp for six years, where he managed the San Antonio branch office. He was senior vice president for George W. Muery Services at the end of eight years. In 2002, he bought out Landata Field Services and formed his own company, SurveySA, LP. After closing the firm in the bad economy of 2008, he served as the Chief Surveyor for Texas Right of Way in Fort Worth, then Manager of the Midland Office of Universal Pegasus. When the oil business tanked in Texas in 2016, he finally retired.

Keith's love of any piece of land where he could hike, climb, 4-wheel drive, shoot, fish or camp - as he often did with his two sons, Adam and Mark, and his wife, Nancy - is well documented. Most of his fish stories are actually true. His favorite spots included state and national parks all over Texas, preferably where the grizzlies were shy, and Big Bend National Park and the Grand Canyon. Other favorite spots included anywhere there was a beach or a park in the U.S. He learned to cast a tall shadow over the ski slopes later in life.

Keith was intensely loyal and stayed close to his friends from Seguin and later in his work life. He was a talented poet (fully documented with love poems to his wife), had a quick wit, and was a beautiful written communicator.

He played multiple instruments - like the guitar, saxophone and piano - usually loud and fast, but couldn't sing a note.

He was always up for a good, practical joke or an adventure, especially if it could be done in hiking boots. He reported that he won his then girlfriend, Nancy, by rolling her up in a rug and kidnapping her to the Chisos Mountains for a week. True or not, they later married there.



Keith is survived by his wife, Nancy Parker Jimenez, and his sons Mark Jimenez; Teko Nhlapho; and Adam Jimenez and Adam's wife, Bonnie Hammack, and children Rosa and Miles. He is also survived by five siblings: Frank Jimenez, wife Lisa and his children Michelle and husband Brandon Clem, Tanner Kelcy and Trent Oatman; Brian Jimenez and wife Terri and children Mike, Nick, and Elizabeth and husband, Thom Butler; Ernestine Jimenez and finance', Tim Dean; Jimmy Jimenez, wife Becky and son Brett Jimenez; and John Jimenez. He is survived by many aunts and uncles, including Amil and Carol Baker of Blanco, Texas with whom he maintained a special closeness, and dozens of cousins.

He is also survived by sisters-in-law Rebecca Mansfield and husband, Bruce Ralston of San Antonio; Susan Peek; Donna Francis of San Antonio and son, Richard Francis and wife Leslie, and granddaughter, Parker of Flower Mound; and his mother-in-law, Sharon Daly Mansfield of Waco.

Keith was preceded into death by his parents, Ernest and Arlene Jimenez of Seguin; his father-in-law, James Mansfield, of Waco; sister-in-law, Ann Mansfield; brother-in-law, Rick Jackson; and by his nephew, Collin Jimenez of Seguin.

The Jimenez family would like to give a special thanks to friends and family who acted as cooks, gardeners, personal care givers, hospital sitters, food deliverers, errand runners, handicap equipment and doctor finders, next door car mechanics and house repairers, as well as the exceptional doctors and scientists at the Mays Cancer Center, for the last four intensive months - especially Ernestine Jimenez, Rebecca Mansfield and Bruce Ralston, Alicia Bustamante, the Raba Kistner family, Kindred-at-Home and Minerva Martinez - who all gave Nancy, Adam, Mark and Teko time to hold Keith's hand each day for just a few more minutes.

All friends of the family - past and present - are invited to a viewing on Friday, October 26 at Tres Hewell Mortuary, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, October 27, 2018 with Brother Brian Jimenez officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Seguin.
