Raul Benavides Valdez

Raul was born and raised in San Antonio, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fidel and Hermenia Valdez, and his wife Argelia Kirchner

Valdez. Raul is survived by his 3 children, Ronald A. Valdez, Jacqueline K. Valdez and Kristine K. Valdez, beloved grandchildren, and nephews and nieces. He will be missed by many.

Raul was a Korean Veteran, graduate of San Antonio College, St. Mary's University, Worden School of Social Work at O.L.L.U. He Attended Harvard University, interned at Menninger Foundation in Kansas, and was a doctoral student at Brandeis University. Post-consultant to Civil Rights Commission, member of the National Institute of Mental Health and L.U.L.A.C. Served on the Board of Health Planning Committee, Council of Governments, Chicano Alliance on Drug Abuse, National Crime Prevention Council and National Institute on Drug Abuse Prevention. Speaker and Lecturer on Delinquency, Mental Health and wrote Chicano Poetry.

Professor, Business Owner, Youth Gang Specialist, Social Worker, Youth-In-Conflict Director. He worked at the Good Samaritan Center, directed the Guadalupe Community Center, and was involved in local politics.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 24th from 6PM-8PM with a rosary at 7PM, at Mission Park-Medical Center, 8332 Fredericksburg Rd.

Mass of Resurrection will be on Tuesday, October 25th at 10AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 223 E. Summit Ave.

Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
