Mel, I'm thinking of you today on what would have been your 58th birthday. I sure do miss you. We had so many good times as kids. I can't ever hear The Carpenters without remembering how we would play your album and sing those songs so many times! We obsessed over Trixie Belden mysteries together. You tried to teach me tennis, but finally conceded that I just didn't have that gene. Ha ha! I loved your mom. How did she have the energy to drive us to so many group skating nights and movie nights when she worked fulltime and was a single mom? She made awesome dinners, always with a salad. Her snickerdoodles were the bomb. Gary made pancakes on Saturday morning. Sunday afternoons during football season were all about the Chargers and yummy snacks. I can't believe you're gone. I wish I could call you and catch up. You were such a ray of sunshine in my life. How lucky I was to have you as such a big part of my childhood.
So much love, from the other Mel

i struggle with why such a beautiful, caring, loving person had so little time with us. i do find comfort in the knowledge Mel inspired so many of us with unconditional love, her optimism, her strength, her humor, yet still finding her blessings (i.e. her mother and her daughter) while she herself was faced with such an overwhelming battle. thank you, Melody, i am honored to have known you and been inspired by you to be a better person in my own life. God bless and keep you without pain and with much love forever after.

I'm so sorry to hear that Mel has passed. I knew her from elementary school through high school. I last saw her when I went to see her get married. She was a very sweet hearted woman and she will be missed.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to Ron & Taylor. Melody was a childhood friend and very well liked by all who knew her. She was like a big sister to me. When I returned from my tour of duty in the Army she was the first person I looked up to find out about our 10yr reunion. This is when she introduced me to her husband Ron, shortly before moving to Murrieta. I'm deeply saddened by this she will be missed. Anthony F Norfolk
