Kathleen Crews Obituary

Kathleen Crews Kathleen "Kath" Marie Crews passed away from complications of multiple sclerosis on November 17, 2014 at 8:35am at Wilshire Hospice in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She was 58 years old. Kath was born in March, 1956, in Los Angeles to Joseph Vincent Reynolds and Carol B Hinds Reynolds. Her siblings were: Teresa Sue 1955, Christopher John 1957-1994, Mary Jane 1961, Shannon Patricia 1963, Anne Colleen 1965, Timothy Joseph 1967-2014, and Amy 1969. On December 16, 1978 she was married to John Stephan Crews in Napa. She graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis in 1978. She was a devoted homeschooling mother and lived most of her adult life in the unincorporated community of Orcutt in Santa Barbara County. One of her favorite pastimes was reading mystery novels. Kath was a devout Christian and attended Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Orcutt for many years. Her proudest achievement was homeschooling her four children from Kindergarten through high school. Her greatest disappointment was being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1985, losing her ability to walk in about 2003, and requiring nursing home care starting in 2007. Kath could complete any Sudoku puzzle in her head and await the arrival of someone who could write in the numbers. Kath is survived by her husband, John Stephan Crews of Morro Bay; her children: Andrew Owen Crews and his wife, Jessica Lynn Mullane Crews, Bethany Joy Crews, Emily Ann Crews, and Brian Matthew Crews, and her grandchildren, Mackenzie Claire Crews and Grant Alexandra Crews. Her ashes were scattered at sea outside Morro Bay. Sign her guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries

As a Runabout driver, I had the privilege of transporting Ms. Crews during her stay at Mission View, mostly to The First Presbyterian Church downtown. I really enjoyed her company. My heartfelt condolences to her family....
