Allan Plummer Gordon passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 16, 2007 after a long illness. He is now at peace and in heaven with his parents Mabel and Alexander Gordon along with his brother Donald.
Born in Santa Francisco on October 11, 1913, Allan was raised in San Jose, Calif. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with an Engineering Degree and had a long career in that field. Prior to his retirement in 1973 he had been with the Atomic Energy Commission working at the Stanford Linear Accelerator.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II serving as the Engineer Officer on two different destroyers. After the war he returned to civilian life and his engineering career - but remained in the Navy Reserve, eventually retiring as a Commander.
Allan and his wife of 57 years, Barbara, moved from Los Altos Hills to Aptos in 1974 where they both played golf at Seascape, made many new friends, and enjoyed the lovely weather. In 1987 they moved to Vendenberg Village near Lompoc, joined the country club, and continued playing golf and enjoying life.
Allan in survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter, Keven Melinda of Vancouver Island, Canada, also a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and sons Brian Allan and Robert Alexander of Santa Cruz, both of whom Allan loved to take fly-fishing.
A celebration of life will be held later place and time to be announced. Donations to the Marian Hospice in Santa Maria would be graciously accepted.
