DANNY M. THIBAULT
1950 – 2021
Dan was born in Beloit, KS to Ulysses Thibault and Millie Thibault. He is survived by his wife, Maria and five children, Chris, Joe, Boni, Melissa, and Niki.
Dan always valued lifelong learning. He started at St. Francis Seminary in Victoria, KS, graduated from Kansas State with an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work, a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Washburn University, and finally a Master's Degree in Nursing from University of San Diego.
Dan's life work was to serve others while discovering new, interesting people and places along the way. He joined the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic and then became a missionary in the Philippines where he met his wife Maria. He continued to care for others as a Nurse at Stormont Vail Hospital in Kansas, volunteering for the Sisters of Mercy in Belize City, Belize and setting up the Patchakan Presbyterian Clinic in Northern Belize. He worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Yakima Valley Farmworkers Clinic in Toppenish, WA. In 2009, he and Maria moved back to Belize and served as Medical Directors of the Hillside Healthcare Clinic, providing care to villages in the Toledo District. He ended his career at the Farmworkers Clinic in Washington State.
He and Maria retired in Rowe, NM. Dan loved napping in his hammocks, traveling near and far, playing golf, reading, and gardening. Though health problems slowed him down later in life, he never stopped being busy. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma in March 2021 and was able to live his last days at home with family and friends.
