Alice Buttner
1916 - 2010
Alice T. Buttner passed away April 16, 2010. Alice was born May 7, 1916 to Marie and Henry Malchow in Windom, Minnesota. She married Tom Buttner in Los Angeles. They had four daughters and in 1952 moved to Orcutt. Later they moved to Santa Maria.
Alice was active in the Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her garden and was an avid crafter; sewing, knitting, crocheting and many other crafts. She was well known for crocheting scrubbers.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and sister Florence Staats in 2002. Alice is survived by her sister, Irene Rizzo of Burbank and four daughters, Thelma and Karl Bell of Santa Maria, Diane O'Neal of Torrance, Linda and Carlin Edgar of Perry, Oklahoma and Patty Green of Santa Maria, 8 grandchildren, Charles Bell of Santa Maria, David Bell of Templeton, Anastasia Swinkles of Reseda, Kevin O'Neal of Long Beach, Bill Edgar of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jeff Edgar of Perry, Oklahoma, Julia Poulsen of San Jose and Mike Green of Aloha, Oregon, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marian Hospice in the care of Marian Foundation, 1400 E Church St, Santa Maria, Ca. 93454 or Grace Lutheran Church, 423 East Fesler, Santa Maria, Ca. 93454. Special thanks to her caregivers, Haley, Rene and Remy.
Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor Ray Kringel, Friday April 23, 2010 at 2 PM.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
