Died: October 23, 2023 in Rock Falls, IL
Iva Jean Kessler, 93, of Rock Falls died Monday October 23, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Iva was born October 14, 1930 in Magnolia KY the daughter of William and Goldie (Pottinger) Stanfield Sr.. She married Ira "Zach" Kessler in Hart County KY in October of 1947, and they shared nine children.
Her passions in life were gardening, baking her amazing pies, watching NASCAR, bowling and never meeting a stranger. Later in life she became an avid birdwatcher on the river.
Survivors include six of her children Geneva Reynolds of Sterling, David Kessler of Sterling, Patrick Kessler of Rock Falls, Rose Anderson of Sterling, Randy Kessler of Chicago, and James Rodney Kessler of Lomira WI; one brother William "Bill" Stanfield; twenty five grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and five great-great-great grandchildren; special gals Candice, Barbara Kay, Sharon, Shirley, and Mary Florence.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents; three children Ronald (Patricia) Kessler, Albert Kessler, Nancy Webb; ten siblings; one grand-daughter Marie Brandon, and one grandson Tyler Anderson "Fredette".
Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday November 2, 2023 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. Visitation will be Thursday from 10AM-11:30AM, prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
Iva's family would like to thank Rock River Hospice and Home for their special care with Iva, during her time of need.
