Norden W. Scanlan, age 84, of Tampico, died Monday, October 3, 2022 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
Norden was born April 2, 1938 in Rock Falls the son of William and Cecelia (Martenson) Scanlan. He married Mary Jane Bumphrey on January 21, 1956 in Clinton, IA. He owned and operated Eikenberry Sheet Metal for many years. Norden loved his family, music and playing cards. He was always the first to pull out his guitar at family gatherings. And nobody left without playing a game of euchre.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Jane Scanlan of Tampico; five children, Nim (Sally) Scanlan of Rock Falls, Jeffrey (Terri) Scanlan of Sterling, Shari (Randy) Bennett of Prophetstown, Kristi (Dan) Wiederin of Tampico and Kevin (Donna) Scanlan of Tampico; one sister, April (Mike) Ransom of Lyndon; ten grandchildren, Nolan (Ashley) Scanlan, Travis (Leah) Scanlan, Leslie (Ryan) Arquilla, Laura (Matthew) Wheeler, Heather Bennett, Brooke Bennett, Joshua (Morgan) Wiederin, Evan (Katelynn) Scanlan, Riley Scanlan and Caden Scanlan; and twelve great grandchildren, Oden, Evelyn, Bryce, Brant, Peninnah, Oren, Noelle, Adalyn, Nora, Alexis, Noah and Kyleigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Amaryllis "Mick" McNinch and Avalon Clayton; and two brothers, Ronnie Scanlan and Larry Scanlan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls with the funeral following at 11:00 AM with Reverend Bree Truax officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church and Rock River Hospice and Home.
