Jesse Robert (Bobby) Kennedy - CLAXTON - Jesse Robert (Bobby) Kennedy, 78, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Evans County. He has been a member of Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church for over 30 years and was a former member and deacon of Claxton First Baptist Church. Bobby graduated from Claxton High School in 1953 and attended South Georgia College. He was City Clerk for the city of Claxton. He later became a rural letter carrier for the Claxton Post Office and retired after 36 years. He was a member of the District, State, and National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was Vice President of the District, and also named First District Rural Letter Carrier of the Year, and First District Retired Rural Letter Carrier of the Year. He was a past member of Ezel Masonic Lodge #335 of Claxton. He loved his church, sports, hunting, and spending time with his family. Mr. Kennedy was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Patty Perkins Kennedy, his parents, Jesse and Nannie Byrd (Dupree) Kennedy, and brother, former Senator Joseph E. Kennedy. Survivors: two daughters, Diane (Tommy) Lynn and Lu ( Allen) Durrence all of Claxon; one sister, Elaine (Stan) Bullington of Duluth; a sister-in-law, Lalah Kennedy of Claxton; four grandchildren, Andrew Durrence of Atlanta, Daniel (Page) Lynn of Statesboro; Allison (Matt) Durrence Buck of Savannah; and Ashlee Lynn of Claxton; one great-grandchild Avery Kennedy Buck; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
