As sad as Bonnie's passing was, I have such happy memories of knowing her over many years, starting in fifth grade in Havana, Cuba. She and I would often compete in spelling bees; she was a gracious winner. She had a contagious smile. I can't picture in her in my mind's eye without her smile, often accompanied by a good-natured laugh. She didn't think of herself, but rather of other people of all ages and backgrounds. She was always in services to others, in school, church, everywhere. Her memory inspires us to follow her example of helpfulness and kindness.

I remember spelling bees at Cathedral School in Havana where the boys competed against the girls. I was pretty good, but Bonnie usually beat me. I wasn't surprised when I met Bonnie again much later to learn that she had dedicated her life to educating and helping people. Her many friends still think of her often and fondly.

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Bonnie. Her smile seems to have lasted from the 1950's, when we were friends in Havana, to the very end. May the memory of her smile motivate all who knew her to show kindness, empathy and sympathy in our dealings with everyone we meet. May she rest in peace after a life well lived. Margaret Sheppard and John Bash, classmates of Bonnie at the Cathedral School and Ruston Academy.
