Helen Yodis, 97, of Mahanoy City, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, at Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Shenandoah.
Helen was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Mahanoy City, a daughter of the late Rose (Saltonis) and Vincent Strokis.
She graduated from Mahanoy City High School.
She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City.
In her younger days, she worked for the Army and Navy Munitions Board, as a clerk typist, Washington, D.C., and General Cigar Company, Mahanoy City and Nanticoke.
She was the wife of the late Bernard Yodis, who passed away in November of 2001.
Helen is survived by a son, Peter, husband of Patricia Yodis, of Tamaqua; a sister, Rita Boczkowski, of Mahanoy City; a brother, Ed, husband of Fran Domkus, of Shenandoah Heights; a grandson, Joe and his wife, Colleen; a great-grandson, Hayden; a great-granddaughter, Michaela, of Downingtown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Friday at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Mahanoy City. Louis D.
