Michael V. Quercia Sr., 86, of Port Carbon, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born Jan. 19, 1936, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Sabitino and Josephine (Tranquillo) Quercia.
Michael served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1960.
He worked as a parts manager at Furnival Machinery Co., New Philadelphia, for 20 years, and then as a maintenance supervisor for Saint Clair Area School District for 12 years before retiring.
Michael was a member of Oldtimers Baseball Association in Saint Clair; a charter member of Saint Clair Lions Club; a former committeeman for East Norwegian Twp.; and a member of American Numismatic Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Nettles; two brothers, Joseph and Alfred Quercia; and a sister, Lena Shamonsky.
Michael is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara (Myro) Quercia, Port Carbon; a daughter, Judy M. Quercia, Saint Clair; two sons, Michael Quercia Jr. and his wife, Terry, Port Carbon, and Richard Quercia and his wife, Lisa, Frackville; son-in-law, David Nettles, Port Carbon; six grandchildren, Jessica, Dustin, Amanda, Kory, David and Alexis; eight great-grandchildren, Holly, Jayde, Alyvia, Austin, Nova, Khaleesi, Missandei and Kenny; and nieces and nephews.
