Suzanne Fisher Obituary

Suzanne was born February 18, 1923 at Arcadia Farms, and died there at home on December 17, 2010. She was the last of the Simpson family to be born on the property that included Arcadia Mills and Arcadia Farms. The daughter of Charles Henry and Anna Fitzgerald Simpson and the granddaughter of Ezekiel E. Simpson, she became the beloved mother of five children who grew to love Arcadia as well.

Suzanne's early life on the farm with her father, mother and brothers was idyllic and she loved Arcadia to the end of her days. Her greatest joy all her life was to walk the land and to remember all the wonderful times she experienced there. She loved to feed the many birds that came to her feeders - sometimes as many as nine or more male cardinals at a time. She was at peace there in her home.

Her life was a busy one, raising five children, helping to care for her own mother in her later years, and working at the Farm Bureau and then the Navy. She played the piano and organ at the First Presbyterian Church in Milton, which had been founded by her family, and she also loved to play the piano at home. She retired in the late 1970's with the hope of traveling - and did manage a few great trips. But her life became more and more centered around Arcadia and her children and she spent the last decades of her life caring for her home that she never wanted to leave.

Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her husbands, James H. Ripley and Harold C. "Dick" Fisher.

She is survived by her four sons, James Robert, Donald Henry, Lawrence Fitzgerald, and John Noel Ripley and by her daughter, Suzanne Ripley Kranc. She also has six surviving grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at National Cremation & Burial Society in Milton, FL on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 1-2 PM with the funeral service to follow at 2 PM. in the chapel.

Interment will take place immediately following the service in Bagdad Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to the Covenant Hospice of Northwest Florida, P. O. Box 17887, Pensacola, FL 32522 would be appreciated.

National Cremation & Burial Society has been entrusted with the arrangements.
