Guy Horgan Obituary

NEW CASTLE - Guy Robert Horgan succumbed to a virus that affected his heart. He died in his sleep on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was 27.

Born in Exeter, N.H., to Robert and Darcy Horgan and raised in New Castle, Guy graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy. After an adventurous gap year traveling the globe including stints teaching English in Africa and studying Spanish in Cuba, his pull towards business led him to Babson College. Employment with Google in Silicon Valley immediately followed graduation. From there, Opendoor, a San Francisco real estate start-up, recognized his unique blend of boundless energy and innate leadership talent and enticed him to join their vibrant company promising unlimited potential. In his two years there, he quickly rose to Regional Home Advisor Manager for the East Coast, relocating most recently to Atlanta, Ga.

All who knew Guy were impressed with his insatiable curiosity. Every person and every corner of the globe was worthy of his attention. Friends remark how he inspired them to strive to be more than they ever imagined and were charmed not only by his keen intelligence and insight but also by his quick wit, unique laugh and quirky sense of humor. From speaking French like a Frenchman to his perfectly-fitted shirts and his almost encyclopedic knowledge of fancy cars and rap music, Guy lived large and scooped many into his exciting orbit.

Guy is survived by his mother, Darcy Horgan and partner, Dennis Kleinman of New Castle, N.H.; father, Robert Horgan and wife Kate Horgan of East Boothbay Harbor, Maine; sister, Molly Horgan; half-siblings and spouses, David and Christine Horgan and Wendy and Jeff Smith; step-siblings, Lilly Darché and Haynes Johnston, Chloe Darché, and Sam Darché; and numerous other relatives.

SERVICES: A celebration of his life will be held at Phillips Church on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy on Saturday, September 8, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to NH Public Radio, 2 Pillsbury Street, 6th Floor, Concord, NH 03301.
