Sister Anna Maureen LYNCH, SP Patricia Lynch (Sister Anna Maureen) died on Friday, February 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Residence in Seattle, WA at 90 years of age. She would have celebrated 70 years as a Sister of Providence in July 2008. The Vigil Service will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Joseph Chapel, 4800 37th Ave. SW, Seattle, WA, at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated there on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Seattle, Washington. BONNEY-WATSON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Sister Anna Maureen was born February 15, 1918 in Walla Walla, WA to Martin Bernard and Anna Henrica (Gross) Lynch. She graduated from St. Vincent Academy, Walla Walla, WA in 1936 and entered the Sisters of Providence Novitiate in 1938. She professed her first vows in November 1939 and her final vows in 1942. Her educational opportunities included: BS in History from Seattle College, Seattle, WA, 1943; Masters in Home Economics from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, 1963; Principal's Certificate from Seattle University, Seattle, WA, 1966. Sister Anna Maureen's ministry assignments as a Sister of Providence were primarily in education: High School Teacher and Care of Resident Students, St. Joseph Academy, Yakima, WA (1939-45); High School Teacher and Officer of the Girls Resident Students, Providence Academy, Vancouver, WA (1945-56); High School Teacher, Dean of Girls, and Registrar, Blanchet High School, Seattle, WA (1956-62); Superior, Principal, and Teacher, St. Joseph Academy, Yakima, WA (1962-68); Teacher, John F. Kennedy High School, Seattle, WA (1968-70); Secretary, Carroll High School, Yakima, WA (1970-72); Admitting Department Clerk (1972-78) and Telecommunications Attendant and Sister Representative (1978-85), St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Yakima, WA. She attended Maryvale, in West Terre Haute, IN (1985) to study low-income housing in preparation for serving as manager of the new Providence House in Yakima, WA (1985-86). She assisted in the development of several other housing programs. She returned to St. Joseph Residence, Seattle, WA and served as a visitor and Sister Representative at Mount St. Vincent (1987-90). She then returned to Providence House, Yakima, WA as Manager (1990-94). In 1994, she retired to St. Joseph Residence in Seattle, WA. Her parents and a cousin, Reverend Gerald Mann, preceded Sister Anna Maureen in death. She is survived by her cousin, Shirley Franceschi from Wisconsin; the community of Sisters of Providence; and many friends.
