Anne Whitney Obituary

Anne Rollinson WHITNEY Born in New York on June 5, 1953, Anne Rollinson Whitney died on January 24, 2007, in Los Angeles, California. A descendent of Eli Whitney, inventor of the cotton gin, Anne lived an extraordinary life. She grew up in Brooklyn Heights, New York and attended the Rogers Hall boarding school, where she was a National Merit Scholar, and Bradford College. She became a professional model with the Eileen Ford Agency and traveled extensively for her work throughout North America and Europe. She married in Los Angeles, moving shortly thereafter to Kirkland, Washington. A devoted mother, she chose to table her career to be at home with her only child. During this time, Anne earned her black belt in Karate and in 1987 became the Washington State Karate Champion, besting male and female competitors. She also served the community by volunteering for several Eastside charitable organizations and tirelessly supporting the arts. An accomplished cook and entertainer, she routinely hosted exquisite dinner parties for dear friends and family. Years later, she embarked on a professional journey in another highly competitive arena, the finance industry. Anne rose to the position of Vice President, Private Banking and Investing for Key Bank. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2000, she took an extended medical leave from the job in which she excelled and took such pride. A woman of elegance, great passion and intellect, she led her life with purpose and grace, touching everyone she met, cultivating deep and lasting friendships. She is survived by her daughter, Anaka Whitney Price of Beverly Hills, California, and her sisters, Claudia Whitney of Munich, Germany, and Susan Whitney Perdon, of New York, and two nieces and two nephews. A Service will be held on February 2, 2007 at the Santa Barbara Cemetery in Santa Barbara, California. Flowers can be sent to the Santa Barbara Cemetery; remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

A year ago on the 24th, I lost a precious friend of a lifetime. Our lifetime only lasted a few seconds, but those seconds turned my heart to sawdust. May Anne rest in Eternal Peace. With endearing and enduring love always. Nate

Anaka:
I am in shock and at a loss for words over learning of your mom's passing. I only knew her for a few seconds of our lifetimes, but she affected me as no other for the rest of my life. My heart will be forever tormented, while her heart and soul will rest in peace. God Bless her..."Other men have seen angels, But I have seen thee, And thou art enough." G. Moore

Anaka,
Walker is devastated by the loss of your mother, as am I and my family. Anne was grace personified in her contacts with me, and she was so loving with Walker. I often refered to her as "my blessing".

I am heartsick over the death of beautiful dear sweet Anne. I adored her. We were very close friends for many years. She honored me by inviting me to sit at her dinner table at Anaka's wedding last September. She looked so happy. It is beyond belief that she is gone but never forgotten. May God bless her and take care of her - enfolding her in his loving arms.

Anne, doing what she did best, hosting a dinner party.

Anne was a very special person. She was my best friend, and like a sister to me, and to our family. It was wonderful to watch football, listen to music, share a glass of wine with her. She loved all the stories about our grandson, and developed a very special relationship with him (he's eight). The conversations and laughter they had! That we all had. She will make a very special, wonderful angel.
