Carl Robertson Obituary

Carl Henry "Buzz" Robertson

Carl went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2016 after a 13 year battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born in Seattle on July 13, 1948, to William and Catherine Robertson and sister, Linda. After graduating from Garfield High School, he spent several years as a manager for House of Values and Payless Drugstores. Carl then opened his own wine shop in Redmond where he shared his love of wine with his customers for many years. It was after this entrepreneurial adventure that he returned to school, graduating from Edmonds Community College and the University of Washington, and found his true passion as a middle school math and science teacher. He taught not only the curriculum but also life lessons to the students at Voyager Middle School in Everett for 20 years, where he was known for his myriad of ties (one for every day of the school year, plus some).

He married the love of his life, Carol, on November 22, 1969 in Seattle. They had two children, Brian (Sarah) and Malissa (Geoffrey), who gave them five wonderful grandchildren (Brandon, Emily, Elliana, Isaac, and Caleb).

Carl was a sports lover, from cheering on his kids' sports teams to coaching basketball at Voyager and softball for Sunrise Christian Fellowship to watching his beloved Mariners, Huskies, and Seahawks. His love of wine lead him to start a wine tasting group that has met once a month for the past 28 years. Carl also enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing with his grandchildren, reading, listening to Christian music, and tending to his dahlias and tulips.

He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, gregarious spirit, optimistic attitude, and for living life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 1st from 1-4pm at the Edmonds Senior Center (220 Railroad Avenue). In lieu of flowers, a donation made in his name to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society would be appreciated.

His family would like to thank Dr. Kent Callahan and Dr. Eric Feldman, as well as the rest of the providers and staff from the Group Health Oncology Department.
