George Broady Obituary

George BROADY 1944 - 2003 George passed away peacefully on October 5, 2003 from complications following a brain aneurysm. He was born and raised in Runcorn, Cheshire, England, the youngest of seven children. He and his wife moved to Seattle to work for Boeing in 1968. They spent numerous years in both the Kirkland and Gold Bar area, before moving to Camano Island. George spent more than 20 years as a design engineer, specializing in aircraft interior installations. He began in the field with the 737 program. He then moved on to the 707/727/737 Division, as the 737 became an established member of the Boeing family. George joined the 767 program when it was launched. He was Chief Engineer of Payloads for the 747/767 Division before joining the 777 Division. In 1997, George was named Director of Payloads Engineering for Commercial Airplanes. This was a position he held until his retirement in October, 1999. George loved soccer, golf, fishing and camping with friends. Some of his favorite places included Winthrop, WA. and Chandler, AZ. Amongst his friends, he was known as a relentless domino and poker player. He will be greatly missed around the campfire. George is survived by his wife of 37 years, Leslie, of Camano Island; his sisters Nell, Dot, and Marge; brothers, Allan and Ernie; in-laws Helen and Derek Peacock; and Bess Jones, all in England. A Service Celebrating George's Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue at 1717 Bellevue Way N.E., Tuesday, October 14 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Sincerest thanks to Harborview Critical Care ICU, Virginia Mason Hospital, 17th floor staff and Life Care Center, Sedro Woolley. No flowers by request.
