George Villeneuve Obituary

George E. VILLENEUVE George was born in Seattle on June 14, 1920 to Benjamin and Elizabeth Galloway Villeneuve. Passed away July 28, 2008 in Shoreline, WA. As a proud third generation Washingtonian, he attended Emerson Elementary and graduated from Franklin High School in 1938. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in Europe with the US Army Medical Corp., and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in business. George had a long career in rail transportation working for the State of Wa. Dept. of Transportation, Southern Pacific, Northern Pacific, and retiring in 1985 as a Director of Pricing for the Burlington Northern. He served as a past president of the BN Veteran's Assoc. and remained active with them for many years. He was also a member of the Seattle Railroad Traffic Assoc., Washington Athletic Club, a 50 year member and former Elder at Bethany Presbyterian Church. A past volunteer with the Queen Anne Food Bank and the Shoreline Police Dept., serving at the Shoreline Eastside Storefront. He enjoyed many happy times traveling with his wife, Jean, and had an amazing collection of maps, always ready to plan the next trip. A charter Seahawk season ticket holder for many years, his love of the Hawks and Huskies always brought him back to Seattle for the season. George was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Villeneuve Todd, and Louise Villeneuve Service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Jean, children, Charles, Donald and wife Ginna, Anne, Betsy Justice and husband Jay, James, and Ellen, and grandchildren, Erin Villeneuve, Katie Justice and James Villeneuve. Special thanks to Eva, Billy, Alla, and all of the fantastic staff at Richmond Beach Rehab for their wonderful care of Dad. A memorial service is planned for Sat., August 9th, 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1818 Queen Anne Ave. N., Seattle. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Assoc. or the American Heart Assoc.
