Gordon Kinney Obituary

Gordon Dickinson KINNEY Gordon was born July 25, 1922, in Portland, Oregon, to Robert C. and Althea M. Kinney. He passed away in the presence and arms of his loving family on December 11, 2008. Gordon found his true vocation as a teacher, and taught as a volunteer after retiring from Washington State Department of Corrections, where he taught math and science. He was a member of Washington State School Retirees Association, and wrote the health column for their newsletter; a longtime member of Plymouth United Church of Christ; and a Toastmaster. His passions included studying and sharing history, creative writing, and a love of animals, especially his kitty, Missy, who misses him. His innate optimism and unique sense of humor charmed everyone he met. Gordon is survived by the love of his life, his beloved Gloria, his wife of 61 years; four children, Jan, Al, Pam, and Dinah Kinney; Al's partner Randy Hall; grandchildren Angie and Brian Bianchini and Brian's wife Danielle; and two nieces and a nephew. We will celebrate Gordon's life December 27, 2:00 p.m., at Plymouth UCC at 6th & University in downtown Seattle. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or Plymouth UCC.

To all members of the Kinney family. I first met Gordon and Gloria when they were Rainier Beach High School parents in the 1960's. Gordon and I crossed paths several time since then, mainly at educational events. He was a kind and generous man, and will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

Gloria, Jon, Al, Pam and Dinah
I am so saddened by the loss of your Husband and father
I was part of the bible study you had at your home while I was a member of the Plymouth Church with Stephen Bushley
I have alway kept Gordon and YOU Gloria in my thoughts because of the friendliness of both of you.
I think it was Al who way back when used to work with Steve and I at Northwestern luggage up on capital hill
My Prayers are with YOU ALL and I know that Gordon is now in a better place. I know that Gordon's Family is and was his place of enjoyment. And I know that Gordon was a very "Giving" person as YOU are still Gloria
In GOD'S Name My prayers are right now that He is HOLDING Each one of YOU in HIS HANDS
I kind of think that this not appropriate but I'm going to do it anyway. and that is adding my name, address and phone number
