Janet Bryan Kulzer Wikoff

Janet Wikoff was born to Lila (Bryan) and Norbert Kulzer on July 17, 1926, in Portland, Oregon. The Kulzer family lived in Kalama, WA, but moved often during the Depression and her father's military service. As a youth she learned to adapt and make friends easily. Summers were spent at her grandparents' cottage on Lake Pend Oreille, ID, where she became an excellent swimmer and diver. The family later settled in Seattle, WA, where she graduated from Garfield High School and the University of Washington, receiving a B.A. in Far Eastern Studies. At the University Janet was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta and was secretary of the English Department under its chairman Dr. Robert Heilman.

After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom Weston The couple reared three children in the Seattle area. The marriage ended in divorce in 1964.

As a single mother, Janet moved with her children to Palo Alto, CA, where she was employed at the Stanford University School of Education.

When she retired in 1988 she was Human Resources administrator in the Stanford Provost's office.

A year later she moved to Green Valley, AZ, where she was active playing golf and tennis. She was introduced to Jack Wikoff through mutual friends, later marrying him in 1993 at their Green Valley residence. They had many wonderful years together until Jack's death in January, 2014. Soon thereafter she moved to Hillsboro, OR, to be close to her daughters. Janet, 88, died in her home on Nov. 8, 2014.

She is survived by her son Steve (Shari) Weston of Reidsville, NC; daughters Anne Weston of Hillsboro, OR; Betsy (Pierre) van der Sluys of Hillsboro, OR; grandchildren Jennifer Delfino, Meghan and Erik van der Sluys; cousins Harriet (Dan) Alexander of Bainbridge Island, WA, and Bob (Donna-Marie) Hayes of Boise, ID.

Interment is planned in the Bryan-Williams plot of the Pullman, WA, cemetery in the early summer. Memorials may be made to The Arthritis Foundation or The American Heart Association. Please sign Janet's online Guest Book at www.Legacy.com.
